Buddy USB 7G SoundPod with FilteredAudio™

Over the last several months, we have had several enquiries regarding the state of the Buddy USB 7G sound pod.  Customers are wondering whether we have fixed problems reported on Knowbrainer forum by Lunis Orcutt.  At InSync Speech Technologies, we feel that it is time to put these rumors to rest.  Contrary to the reports on Knowbrainer forum, we have yet to hear about a single problem from another source or experience any ourselves.  As much as we appreciate Lunis’ contributions to the speech recognition world, we believe he is wrong about Buddy USB 7G sound pod.  Buddy 7G is a complex system developed over many years by a team of cracker-jack developers.  It includes advanced components developed at an accredited university.  The system has exceeded our own goals and expectations.  No one in the InSync Speech Technologies development team has spent a single minute working on fixing any phantom Buddy 7G related issues, for the simple reason that we are not aware of any.  Other than people closely related to Lunis, not one person has either returned a Buddy USB 7G sound pod or reported a single problem with one.  We have sold hundreds of these units.  What are we doing at InSync Speech? We are working on Buddy 8G technology, to be released in the second quarter of 2012. 

Is there a problem with Buddy 7G?  Perhaps.  What system so complex with tens of thousands of lines of code is perfect?  However, we are sure that 99.5% of the users who might be interested in this product will never encounter this elusive problem, if it exists.  According to Lunis, you must dictate for at least two hours using a Windows 7 and Dragon 11 combination.  Let’s analyze this:  you must dictate for two hours or more without setting the microphone to mute or putting the microphone to sleep in this time.  Very few people that we have met over the course of our thirteen years of business in speech recognition work this way. Dictating for two hours non-stop would result in approximately 36,000 words being dictated in one sitting, which is no mean feat.

Buddy 7G Technology

Buddy 7G technology is at the heart of each Buddy USB 7G sound pod, as well as any other Buddy microphone, switch or combination thereof.  The Buddy 7G operating system running on a 120 MHz processor in any Buddy 7G device is always the same.  The only difference is the form factor and features exposed.  The Buddy 7G system includes complex mathematical DSP algorithms which estimate the amount of noise in the vicinity and subtract it from the recorded signal, thereby delivering a crystal clear voice stream to the target device or application.  This is a continuous process called Adaptive Noise Cancelation (ANC) because it adjusts continuously to the noise source.  There is a fraction of a second delay between estimation and subtraction, which is hardly noticeable.  Buddy 7G technology also includes complex Event/Action architecture, which generates events in response to the push of a button or microphone muting.  Users can select one or more actions to be carried out to any chosen event, such as muting the microphone, turning on a light, sending a string or keystroke, simulating a mouse movement or sending a message to an application running on the host computer.  MyBuddyMic software is extremely intuitive and user-friendly to help you program the Buddy device you own.  We have configured Push-To-Talk using this mechanism in at least three different ways: Dragon PTT, Normal PTT, and Motorola MIP-5000 PTT.  What you can do with this customization is limited only by your imagination.
