The red button in the base has been modified to act as a Push-Talk-Button, which means that when this button is pressed an HID message is sent to Windows application that the button has been pressed. When the button is released another message is sent to the Windows application via the HID subsystem that the button has been released.

The hardware changes include a bright red light, on the right side of the push button, that is on when the PTT push button is down.

Please note PTT button does not mute or unmute the microphone. It simply sends a message to inform the application that this button is pressed or released.
 

Microphone Element

Includes a unidirectional microphone element to provide clear audio signal from 1” to 9” range from the front of the element yet providing a speech signal comparable to headset microphones. This yields extremely high recognition accuracy which is comparable to good quality headsets.

USB Interface

Its USB interface is 2.0 compliant with 12 mega bit transfer rate, and it can be used in any USB 2 or USB 1.1 slot in your Windows computers. USB.org, the official governing body of all Universal Serial Bus applications and products, has officially certified the Buddy DesktopMic to meet USB standards. The USB chip used in the circuit is designed and manufactured in Germany by a major multimedia company. The attached USB-cable is 10 feet in length.

Buttons and Lights

The base includes a one-touch toggle Press-to-Talk switch with easy-to-see indicator lights turns on when the PTT push button is down.

Construction

The microphone is a beautiful matte-black with a solid metal construction, built for both appearance and durability. The especially designed stylish heavy metal base is stable enough to keep the gooseneck from tipping over even at full extension, while light enough for effortless maneuvering and portability. The Gooseneck is 18 inches long and flexible enough to retain its shape in almost any reasonable position. This provides the user an amazing amount of flexibility to position the microphone at virtually any angle with ease.
